The contamination of radon (222Rn) originated from the decay chain of the uranium series in water could be serious background source in underground particle physics experiments. We have been developing a system for continuous monitoring of radon in water. We developed a new high-sensitivity radon detector for water by combining an existing high-sensitivity 80 L radon detector for air and membrane degasifier module used for previous version of radon detector for water. The housing component for membrane degasifier has been improved. The background level of the new radon detector for water was measured and it was reduced by approximately half compared to the previous one.
