Abstract

Shimizu Takashi, who shot into the limelight with 'The Grudge' (2000), which created the character Kayako (alongside Sadako from 'The Ring'), released Inunaki Village in 2020, the 20th anniversary of his career, which was conceived, directed and scripted by himself. This was followed by Jukai-mura (2021) and Ushikubi-mura (2022). They consist of the 'Factual! Village of Fear Series" trilogy. This article attempts to present a geographer's perspective on these four Shimizu works, while tracing the thin threads that run through them.
