Research interests
(1) ヘリウムは,物質との相互作用が小さく,電磁波・光に対して広い周波数領域で透明であるため,原子分子などを閉じ込めその性質を調べるための媒質として適切である.分光学的な測定により,原子分子とヘリウムとの衝突相互作用,ヘリウムが形成する構造,ボース-アインシュタイン凝縮に伴う素励起などを調べている.
(2) 電磁場を用いて原子分子イオンを狭い空間内に捕捉し,さらに冷却する手段の研究を行っている.捕捉・冷却された原子分子イオンを用いて,外界との相互作用が極めて小さい孤立系,あるいは制御された相互作用を行う系を用意し,レーザー・電磁波を用いた精密な遷移周波数の測定や,低温における衝突・反応過程を調べている.
